For over 50 years, Earth Day has served as an opportunity to demonstrate support for environmental protection. This year, Earth Day falls on Tuesday, April 22. Ten Broeck Mansion gardens

Ten Broeck Mansion Gardening & Community Days

Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19
Ten Broeck Mansion from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM

Give back to the Earth during one of Ten Broeck Mansion's Gardening & Community Days. Hosted the first and third Friday and Saturday of each month, help keep the gardens lovely and tidy. Friday sessions focus on light gardening while Saturday sessions focus on grounds and trash pick-up. Can't make it this weekend? Gardening & Community Days will be hosted through November! 

Earth Day Volunteering with the Pine Bush Preserve

Saturday, April 19
Albany Pine Bush Preserve from 9 AM to 12 PM

Help keep the county clean and join the Pine Bush for some Earth Day, roadside cleaning! Volunteers will meet at the Pine Bush Discovery Center and drive or carpool to Old State Rd to collect litter. As the event takes place along a busy road it is open to adults only. 

Nine Pin Warehouse District Clean Up 2025

Saturday, April 19
9 AM to 11 AM

Nine Pin Cider's annual Warehouse District Clean Up returns on Saturday, April 19 The day kicks off in front of the tasting room at 10 AM. Pick up gear, provided by the City of Albany Department of General Services, and break into teams to clean up Albany's Warehouse District. At 11 AM, volunteers are invited back to Nine Pin's tasting room for complimentary cider until 1 PM.

Earth Day Workday

Saturday, April 19
Bender Melon Farm Preserve from 1 PM to 4 PM

Join the Mohawk Hudson Land Conservatory for their annual workday in celebration of Earth Day! The clean-up will be hosted at the Bender Melon Farm Preserve where volunteers can help expand the public access trail system, collect litter, and enjoy a beautiful spring day. Register today to get involved with this opportunity to help keep the beautiful preserve comprised of forest, fields, and wetlands clean. 

Drop-in Earth Day Scavenger Hunt

Sunday, April 20
Pick up Scavenger Hunt from the Emma Treadwell Thacher Nature Center between 9 AM and 3 PM

Wander this unique nature gem and discover the sights, creatures, and wildlife that live there with an Earth Day scavenger hunt. Thacher Park is a natural wonder in Albany County situated along the Helderberg Escarpment, one of the richest fossil-bearing formations in the world. A visit to Thacher Park is a wonderful way to celebrate all that Mother Nature has to offer. Explore the trails and complete the scavenger hunt to win a prize! 

Earth Day Clean-Up

Tuesday, April 22
Downtown Albany from 10 AM to 2 PM

Live in downtown Albany? Meet your neighbors and join the Downtown Albany BID for an Earth Day Neighborhood Clean Up! Help tidy up downtown Albany's parks, sidewalks, streets and public spaces in time for the beautiful weather this spring. Clean-up supplies including garbage bags, lawn bags, gloves, trash pickers and more will be provided at the Olde English Downtown Dog Park and at the intersection of Madison Ave & Pearl St. Register in advance to receive a free Great Albany Clean Up T-Shirt! 

Earth Day Celebration at the Huyck Preserve

Sunday, April 27
Huyck Preserve from 10 AM to 12 PM

Learn how you can make a difference this Earth Day and every day! This event is geared towards adults and will showcase three different ways to nurture the Huyck Preserve and the environment around you. Wildlife rehabilitator Kelly Martin will give volunteers a personal look at native species in her care. Learn about new volunteer opportunities with the preserve and more. 

Honest Weight Food Co-Op

Celebrate Earth Day with the Honest Weight Food Co-Op

Join the Honest Weight Food Co-Op for a series of ways to give back to planet Earth! The Co-Op is looking for volunteers for their E-Waste Recycling Drive on Saturday, April 26 from 9:30 AM to 3 PM. Tasks include directing traffic, lifting, moving, and sorting electronics. Or help out by stopping by between 10 AM and 3 PM with any electronics you'd like to recycle. Acceptable items include cameras, computers, copiers and more.
